In a move that has crashed Twitter and provided much needed new content for Trade Radio, every AFL player has today asked to be traded.
The move could help facilitate Dayne Beams getting to Brisbane and Paddy Ryder to Port Adelaide.
Player manager Paul Connors said the move was a positive for the finances of player managers.
“A player is well within their rights to ignore a legally binding contract they’ve signed the moment they want out.”
“Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off Ferrari shopping.”
Collingwood president Eddie McGuire said the move was a sign that the AFL needed to return to a system of lifetime indentured servitude for players.
“If players can just leave a team because they want to, Collingwood won’t have a team next season.”
AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan said the move was unfortunate given he was ‘pretty focused’ on the Spring Racing Carnival at the moment.
“I really don’t have time to deal with this,” he said.
“Let me be very clear, players do not run this competition, TV stations do.”
Western Bulldogs president Peter Gordon said he agreed that players weren’t running the competition.
“Just because every single player wants out of their team doesn’t mean the players run things or make us sack coaches, to give a hypothetical example.”
Lifelong AFL fan Ben Hillton said the amount of trades made him feel disengaged from the sport.
“I’m just losing my interest,” he said
“I spent six hours today working out potential trade scenarios and discussing them online. Does that sound like the actions of someone who is still interested in the game?”
"Just quietly though, it proves I was right about Dangerfield wanting out."
AFLPA CEO Paul Marsh said he supported the move by the players.
“I think it’s pretty reasonable for every player to say they want out and they’re willing to retire or walk away if they don’t get what they want.”
AFL Legal Counsel Andrew Dillon said he wished clubs had written contracts down instead of committing them to memory.
“Apparently, contracts need to be written down which is a big learning for the industry. Now I get why Tania always took all those notes. Good to know.”

I assume player mangers are where the little messiahs are born.
